Last summer, we announced our collaboration with the the University of Miami and introduced the first ever adidas x Parley football jerseys made from Ocean Plastic®. This year, the Defenders of the Deep bring the movement and a new fleet of symbols to the baseball diamond with special edition adidas x Parley jerseys made from intercepted and upcycled marine plastic waste. The University of Miami Hurricanes debuted the kits—the first adidas x Parley baseball gear—on April 26, 2019, when taking on Virginia Tech at Alex Rodriguez Park at Mark Light Field.

The use of recycled plastic waste materials for the adidas x Parley Miami baseball jerseys demonstrates once again that elite performance and environmental responsibility are not mutually exclusive. By spinning threat into thread, we achieve a durable yet breathable jersey material that adheres to the drags, sprints and swings necessary for a player’s optimal movement and fast journeys around the diamond. In addition to the eco-innovative construction, the Hurricanes’ trademark collegiate orange and dark green jerseys are highlighted with the “Miami” wordmark and player numbers that utilize a 100% recycled twill embroidered with a dark green thread.

To complete the the ocean inspired look and further champion eco-innovation, players also donned the new adidas x Parley adizero Afterburner 5.0 and Icon cleats – the first-ever high-performance baseball cleats made from Ocean Plastic®. Bringing these jerseys and cleats to NCAA baseball raises awareness of marine plastic pollution and supports our long-term vision and strategy for solutions: Parley AIR. Avoid. Intercept. Redesign.
